PRIVACY POLICY FOR USERS(SENDERS)
This privacy policy keeps you informed on how we use and look after your personal information. This policy tells helps you understand what information we use to provide you with quality services, This privacy notice also tells you about your privacy rights and how data protection works to protect you. Drop it off (Pty) Ltd is the Controller of your personal data unless otherwise stated below. The term “us” or “we” refers to the owner of the Drop it off app, Drop it off (Pty) Ltd, a private limited company, founded in the Republic of South Africa. The term “you” or “your” refers to the user or sender who requests and/or receives a delivery service through their Drop it off app account.(1) PERSONAL INFORMATION WE PROCESS
We only process information that we need, so we can provide you with the best possible service on Drop it Off App
.(i) Contact information: Information like names, phone number and e-mail address. For some of our services we might require a little more information, like your pickup and delivery address, or and home address.
(ii) Profile information: For your profile with Drop It Off to be up to date so that we can provide you with the best possible service, connecting you to the relevant drivers, we may require information like your profile picture, saved addresses, etc.
(iii) Location Data: location data is needed to make your experience and app usage a smooth experience, connecting you to the relevant drivers require your location and that of the receiver, delivery progression and the final destination of your delivery.
(iv) Payment information such as the delivery service charge and the payment card used.
(v) Communicating and Correspondence: this include engagement with our support staff or customer service via our in-app chat..
(vi) Data Usage: like data about the delivery status, times and data about your delivery as assessed by drivers.
(2) PURPOSE OF THE PROCESSING
We process your personal data so we can provide you with one or more of our delivery services:
(i)We connect you with a driver, help you find a bicycle, motorcycle or a vehicle: We collect and process personal data for the purpose of connecting senders with drivers so your parcel or package can be picked up and dropped off with convenience. We provide instant messages during delivery between sender and drivers directly in the Drop it off app.
(ii) We Help you Locate your parcel on route to delivery: We display geolocation data and the phone number of senders to drivers when delivery has been accepted or in progress to enable efficient pick-up and drop-off of your parcel..
(iii) We make sure the Drop It Off app is optimal: We use contact details to notify senders /users of updates to the Drop it off app so you can keep using our services.
(iv) We collect your payment: We obtain payment details to process sender’s payment on behalf of drivers for parcel delivery.
(v) We keep you informed: Your name, phone number and email address will be used to communicate with you about your delivery progress and any issues that may arise.
(3) BASIS
We are authorized to use personal information in the ways described above if we have a good reason to do so.
(i) Your personal data is generally processed in order to provide the services contracted through the Drop it off app with you. We process your personal data to meet the obligations of providing quality service.
(ii) We process your personal data to help provide innovative, personalized and safe service to our senders/users and partners, unless those interests are overridden by other interests..
(iii) We may from time to time rely on alternative legal reason when:
(a) it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation as at when required by law, including, for example, if there is a valid legal request to disclose personal information to a third party such as a Court or regulatory authority;
(b) to protect your vital interests, or those of others, for example in the event of an emergency or an imminent threat to life; or
(c) you have given us clear consent to do so for another specific purpose in which you have been fully informed.
If you decide not to give us personal information it may prevent us from fulfilling our obligations, or prevent us from doing what is expected of us in law. It ca also mean that we cannot properly collect and process the personal data submitted by you in the course of installing and using the Drop it off app; refusing to share geolocation information via the App means that a driver cannot locate you for pick-up.
(4) RECIPIENTS
We only work with trusted authorities. We only share when there is a good reason to do so. Information sharing will be limited to only that which is required. We do not sell your personal information.
(i) The personal information of the sender/user is only disclosed to the driver assigned to delivery their parcel/package during the usage of Drop it off app; the designated driver will see the names, phone number and location of the sender.
(ii) Feedback and ratings regarding the quality of the delivery service rendered is anonymous. Your rating is private between you and Drop it off, this help us improve our service to you.
(iii) In situation when we are legally obliged to share information with external recipients. E.g., under a Court order or request from a law enforcement agencies, when it is believed that it is required by law in that jurisdiction, we will have a lawful basis on which to share your personal information, and this decision will be documented for future purpose
(5) YOUR RIGHTS AND CONTROL
Drop it off provides you with in-app view of your personal information including your profile data and delivery history.
(i) Right of access : You can access your personal information via the Drop it off app. You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
(ii) Right to amendment : You can amend your personal information by sending us an email or contact support through the support chat via the Drop it off app. You have the right to ask for an amendment of your personal information you deemed incorrect or incomplete.
(iii) Right to deletion : You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information under certain situations.
(iv) Right to limitation : You have the right to ask us to limit the use and processing of your information in under certain situations.
(6) Retention
Drop it off retains user data for as long as necessary. We hold on to different information for different periods of time depending on the type of information, the delivery service it relates to, and the purposes relating to its collection.
Your personal information will be saved as long as you have an active account. If your account is deleted or removed, your personal information will be removed, unless such information is required for any legal obligation, or for any other legal purposes.
Please note that the removal/un-installation of Drop it off app in your device does not cause the removal of your personal information. If the Drop it off app has not been used for a period of one year, you will be contacted to ascertain if you still wish to keep your account active. If no response is received within a reasonable time, the account will be deleted and your personal information will be deleted.
(7) MARKETING PURPOSE
Drop it Off may send direct marketing messages to your e-mail address and/or phone number. Messages may be personalized using information on from your Drop it off account,
